Privacy Policy

Metry (“Metry”, “we”, “us”) provides software for monitoring and reporting on portfolios, programmes, and impact. We take protecting your data seriously and process personal data in line with the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR. This policy explains — plainly — what we collect, why, and the rights you have.

1. Who we are, and our role

Metry is operated by Metry Ltd, address: 5 Beaconsfield St, London N1C 4EW.

• For the personal data of people who hold a Metry account (name, email, organisation, settings), we are the data controller.
• For the portfolio, programme, and founder/grantee data our customers collect through Metry, the customer is the controller and Metry acts as a data processor on their behalf, under a data processing agreement. If you submitted data through a Metry link at an organisation’s request, that organisation controls your data — contact them, and we will support their request.

2. What we collect

• Account data — your name, email address, organisation, and settings.
• Content you provide — the metrics, narratives, documents, and contact details you or your invited submitters enter into Metry.
• Technical data — log, device, and browser information needed to run and secure the service. We use only essential cookies for sign-in and sessions; we do not use advertising cookies.

Submitter email addresses. When you submit data through a Metry share link, we collect your email address. We use it to attribute your submission to you and to maintain your submission history across the organisations and frameworks you submit to.

3. Why we use it, and our legal bases

We use personal data to provide the service (contract), to keep it secure, improve it, and communicate with you (legitimate interests), to meet legal obligations (legal obligation), and with your consent where that applies. We do not sell personal data.

4. How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted on a least-privilege basis, and each customer’s data is isolated from every other customer’s. Public submission links open only through controlled server-side checks, so the underlying data is never exposed to anonymous access. We work only with vetted sub-processors, each bound by contract.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the sub-processors that help us run Metry — for example base44, GoDaddy, and the AI providers that power document extraction and report drafting (which process your content solely to provide those features) — each under contract, and with authorities where the law requires it. A current list of sub-processors is available on request.

Some features use AI to extract information and draft report narratives. AI output is generated from your data and can be inaccurate or wrong — you are responsible for reviewing it before relying on it, and your use of the service and any reliance on its outputs are governed by our Terms of Service, which set out that decisions and results from using Metry are your responsibility.

6. International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the service or to meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it. You — or, for submitted data, the controlling customer — can request deletion at any time.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, request a copy to take elsewhere, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@metry.ltd. You can also complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the service evolves and post the new version here with a revised date.
